Crosscurrents 2004 - Poetry

She Shakes

She shakes
rain

from her
umbrella.

Bus rails spark
on overhead wires.
Oil rainbows
on a thin sheen of water
kaleidoscoped
by splashing tires.
She fixes her dark eyes
on some point far beyond the terminal,
an unlisted destination,
& waits, silently, for the bus
that will transport her
to that place
